🇨🇭🇨🇭Stoked to be on the mend in Switzerland where every mile is more gorgeous than the last. 🐄 🐄 #roadcycling #roadslikethese #fromwhereIride #homeswisshome #backinaction Training camp has wrapped up and already, I’m getting stoked about next year! I’m massively grateful for the opportunity to meet and ride with so many brilliant athletes. Unfortunately, I came down with Covid19 last week, so while the others head back to the mainland I’ll be self-isolating in my hotel room until I test negative and it’s safe for me to continue onto the next leg of my journey in Switzerland. #roadcycling #trainingcamp #endurancecycling #mallorcacycling #selfie In 2019, I borrowed the jersey and in 2022 I finally got to compete in the legendary endurance event! Blog post about this year’s @mallorca312 is up - link in bio ⬆️. Massive gratitude to @sportograf for capturing so many amazing moments throughout the day! @mallorca312 was literally the most fun I’ve had on two wheels, ever. My biggest takeaway (and there were a few) was that I’m stronger than I think, but also that there’s A LOT of folks out there who are SO MUCH stronger/more skilled than me on the bike - definitely a humbling experience - and I’ve got plenty of room to grow as a cyclist. This was only the second draft-legal event I’ve participated in (the other being Paris-Brest-Paris), and my first time competing on closed roads. You have 14 hrs to ride the course, but you can bet I went out there and gave it my best effort in hopes of a fast finishing time. I had an incredible day and pushed big watts on the climbs, and even bigger watts when I was riding solo into a headwind on the back half of the course. I also got in with some fast groups and loved the enthusiastic cheers from the spectators in all the little villages along the route. In the end, I covered 312 km with 5,000+ meters of elevation gain in just over 11 hrs. I crossed the finish line dazed, crusty with salt, and of course smiling because I’d left it all out there, and I guess that’s what makes cycling fun for me. #mallorca312 #mallorcacycling #ultracycling #funtimesandbigclimbs #morethanafondo #endurancecycling Lost my hair tie but crushed the climb. #roadcycling #shuttuplegs #ridelikeagirl #mallorcacycling #sacalobra #upupup #smileforthecamera Ten days of training camp and still standing! As much as I love the riding, it’s the social aspect that I’m really stoked about - especially after spending the last two years inside my tiny bubble. I’m happy as a clam to do hours of solo tempo work, but there’s nothing quite like racing your ride buddies to the top of a climb (or failing them miserably on an attempted lead out for the daily KOM - sorry Steven!). Not sure how many days I have left, but this next week I’ll be tapering in prep for the @mallorca312 on April 30. Wish me luck (I’m gonna need it)! #roadcycling #mallorca #endurancecycling #shutuplegs #ridelikeagirl #trainingcamp #puigderanda Wooooooooo! Today I led my first group ride ever at JSNT’s training camping in Mallorca, Spain - 100+ km with over 2,000 metres of elevation gain, including the classic hill climb Sa Colabra. The riders were incredible athletes and Mallorca is even better than I could have ever imagined: Disney World for cyclists, as @raceystaceycan described it. I burned up my legs on few fast solo adventures last week and from now on I’ll be leading group rides. Look forward learning more, and hopefully being the kind of ride leader that anyone would want to ride with - feedback welcome and appreciated! #roadcycling #trainingcamp #roadslikethese #endurancecycling #shuttuplegs #sacalobra More photos from our recent Southern Vancouver bikepacking adventure! From gorgeous beachy ice-cream weather to frosty mornings and a surprise snowfall on our last night - we got it all, got dirty, and definitely earned these True Grit shirts from @salty_beard_bikepacking! Big thanks to Lara @bikemisty and my sister Alisha @smackinem for being gracious hosts with warm beds before/during our ride, and to @sir.bikes.alot for the fun route recommendation - ya’ll are simply the best! #bikepacking #vancouverislandbc #bikepackcanada #fromfarandwide #bikewander #adventuretime #bicycletouring #selfie #aprilsnowshowers Exciting news: I’m stoked to announce that I’m partnering with @lightbicycle this season! Light Bicycle makes lightweight, durable custom carbon rims and wheelsets. I wanted something fast and fun for the off-road and mixed surface events on my 2022 race race calendar, and Light Bicycle made me a pair of hoops with WR35 flyweight rims and DT350 hubs - hand-built right here in BC. I’ve spent the past week ripping around Vancouver Island’s forest service road, rail trail, and gravel on these beauties and I’ve had a blast. Looking forward to tackling more challenging terrain and seeing where these take me in 2022 (Hint: @bigskyspectaculaire, @montanabikeodyssey, the Big Lonely, and a dirt @everesting are all on my radar)

Big rides in the okanagan: 2021 Roundup

2021 didn’t shake out as planned. Yet, for all that went wrong—ask me about the joys of a cross-border romance in an era of travel restrictions—I discovered the thrill of off-road cycling, and for that I am extremely grateful. Below, I’ve compiled eleven awesome local rides from the summer of 2021, including bikepacking overnighters, epic […]
