Moab marks the halfway point of @adventurecycling’s Golden Gravel Trail—or at least the midpoint in my two months on the road. Utah is also the only state on the entire route that I’ve never set foot or tire in before, and I’d really been looking forward to seeing all that famous red rock for myself. @silkroadmountainrace kicks off tomorrow, and I’m so excited to dotwatch! Colorado continues to amaze: from the big mountain views to the juicy peaches to the incredible people. Join me in Salt Lake City and Boise! Since my last post was about community on the trail, I figured it made sense to follow that up with a bit about the solo aspect. One of the greatest joys of bike travel is the people you meet along the way. Couldn’t be happier to be back in Colorado’s mountains. It’s been rewarding to reflect on those experiences while layering new ones onto @adventurecycling’s new Golden Gravel Trail. A final dispatch from the Great Plains before plunging into Colorado’s mountains on @adventurecycling’s Golden Gravel Trail! 🌾 Big skies and endless horizons: the last few days on @adventurecycling’s Golden Gravel Trail have taken me from the Osage Hills and into the Great Plains—rolling through the Oklahoma Panhandle (epicentre of the 1930s Dust Bowl), western Kansas, and eastern Colorado.
